September is a very important month for one of our charity partners Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) because it is the month of Childhood Cancer Awareness. Internationally, the recognised symbol of childhood cancer is the gold ribbon, which is why this September CHECT is aiming for gold!
Get involved
At Essilor, we are taking part in fundraising and awareness activities and here are some of the ways your practice can also get involved.
Raise awareness in your local community
Display CHECT
posters and leaflets in and around your practice to help inform others of the signs and symptoms of retinoblastoma.
Hold a Crazy Glasses Day at your school or workplace
A fun and easy way to support CHECT and raise funds for babies, children and their families affected by retinoblastoma. You can even use the
special downloadable template from CHECT!
Spread the message on social media
Like and share the posts from CHECT’s social media pages as well as posting your own videos, stories and stats. Don’t forget to include #CHECTgold. Search “CHECT Childhood Cancer Awareness Month” in Facebook’s ‘add frame’ feature and update your Facebook page.

About retinoblastoma
Retinoblastoma is a rare form of eye cancer. Majority of cases are found in children under the age of six, with one child a week in the UK being diagnosed.
In the UK a high percentage, 98%, of children diagnosed with Retinoblastoma will survive the disease. The survival rates are good, however it is life-threatening and delays in diagnosing it can result in many children and adults living with reduced vision or even losing an eye.
Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is an opportunity for CHECT, Essilor and its partners to raise awareness with parents and healthcare professionals to ensure signs and symptoms are recognised, Rb is diagnosed in time and to also support every family affected.
Get involved this September through one or all of the activities listed above. You can start by displaying posters and leaflets in your practice,
order now!
