As an optometrist, one of your primary jobs is to test the vision of your patients and determine whether they are suffering from a refractive error. Refractive errors, such as myopia and presbyopia, are very common; myopia in particular is said to affect 1 in 3 people.
Refractive errors are easily corrected through wearing the right lenses, but to determine the lens type and prescription strength, it is important that the eye examination is accurate and provides reliable results.
It is the job of the phoropter that allows you to measure a patient’s prescription. As technology continues to advance, new options become available to continue improving your eye care service. With that in mind, we present the new Vision-R 800.
Automated phoropter for heightened accuracy
Vision-R 800 is the result of 4 years of research and development, resulting in an instrument that can completely transform the refraction process for both you and your patients. It has been created with a patented automated optical module, powered by digitally controlled motors.
Not only does this make your job much easier, it also heightens the accuracy and precision of the results. The automatic phoropter will provide simultaneous and instantaneous results pertaining to the sphere, cylinder and axis.
What sets the Vision-R 800
apart is how it has transformed the traditional refraction procedure into something much more advanced. Previously, the procedure meant that values were rounded to the nearest 0.25 D at each stage, with any inaccuracies accumulating. The new procedure via Vision-R 800 uses semi-automated refraction tests to generate 0.01D refraction. These tests aim to improve refraction repeatability, giving the most accurate refraction for the patient. The Vision R 800 also allows for a manual 0.25D refraction, as well as being able to round to the nearest 0.25D step following the semi-automated refraction tests.
This method is much more reliable and more impressive, with highly accurate measuring abilities thanks to continuous power variations. What’s more, Vision-R 800 means the procedure is shorter, reducing the risk of fatigue in patients. Steps are adjusted to suit patient sensitivity, making it easier to give responses.
Once the procedure is complete, patients can experience simulated real-life conditions to compare refractions.
Paving the way for precise lens calculations
The importance of dispensing accurate and tailored lenses is paramount, in an industry where patients are expecting the highest level of care and expertise. Being able to offer advanced vision solutions is invaluable to the success and reputation of your practice.
This leads us to the next stage; putting the results of the Vision-R 800 into action. Coming soon, AVA lenses will continue the breakthrough journey of high precision refraction. Advanced Vision Accuracy lenses will be the result of a precise lens calculation, making it possible to dispense lenses with an 0.01 D prescription.
Integrated into some of Essilor’s most premium lens designs, AVA will be available in the following lenses; Varilux X, Varilux E, Varilux Physio 3.0 and Eyezen.
